2.4c\Barton 2500+ overclockers...

What kinda cooling are you guys using on your CPU?

I have been thinking of getting one of the 2 and overclocking (3.2ghz\3200+ range), but what has me wondering is will I really need a 40+db fan (with a high quality heatsink of course) to keep it cool?

Right now the loudest thing in my case is the factory ATI fan on my 9800 Pro :|

I'm running an XP2500 @ 2.22 Ghz (as stated in my profile)... and I'm using an SK-7 heatsink with a cheap old 70mm 4500 RPM fan. Temps only get above 50C if my case temp is over 30C... and that's only over 30 on a hot day, bout 85 degrees in the room.

I'm getting 3.3ghz on a 2.4C, Abit IC7, Geil PC3500, Intel Heatsink. Careful with teh geil, my friend got 2 sticks that wouldn't get to PC3500, much less overclock past it. On the other hand, mine do it easily.

I'm also running a 2.4c at 3.36gig with the stock Intel HSF, with Arctic silver instead of the pad.

I'm using default vcore though, if it took much extra voltage I think an aftermarket fan would be better.

Zalman 7000 series al-cu with as3 on silent mode (it's actually quieter and cooler than the stock intel hsf)...

Not exactly what you're asking, but I got one of the Fry's 2400+ combo deal and put the proc on a -slightly- older Asus A7V333 board. It's running a modest 2166mhz with a SK-7 and an 80mm Vantec Stealth. Loudest thing in the case is the top fan in the Lian-Li case that seem to be riveted on (the front two fans that are riveted have a speed controller switch). My temps run mid to low 40C in idle, low to mid 50s under full load.

I just got a 2500+ today. Running it 2.2ghz (11*200) at default voltage with an alpha 8045 (quiet panaflow fan). 39C running seti.

2500+ barton with Vantec AeroFlow VA4-C7040 60 mm 5600 RPM fan. nforce2 mobo at 205 FSB x 11 . Runs 43c full load. This is with a copper case, 3 x 80 mm fans PSU with intake/outake.
