2.4B to 3.0C processor XP problem

Anyone know what kind of problems are caused in XP home by upgrading my processor from a 2.4B to a 3.0C? The system POSTs fine and boots, but my IE and several programs error out at startup (IE depending on what site I go to also, some sites are OK, but my normal weather.com home and Anantech sites cause an error report screen ), and I sometimes get the bsod upon shutdown with some type of _IRQ_ message. Do I need to do a repair to get it to work? TIA.

Only difference is the 3.0C supports Hyper Threading, which if
your BIOS enabled after installing the CPU needs a Re-Install of the OS.

I tried a "repair" last night, still BSOD from time to time.

Guess I know how I will be spending my labor day weekend!

What kind of RAM do you have?

Corsair XMS 3200, which should be plenty even with the bus speed-up.
