anyways, whats so good about the 2.4B C1. and what is C1 and "B" anyways. will this overclock better than a p4 2.66Bmhz? i heard the 2.4B OC's extremely well, does it also get better respectively as the cpu speed gets faster? or is it just that magic 2.4B that is great?
also, i heard that only some models of 2.4B's oc well, what model numbers DO oc well? and where are they marked on the box/cpu?(im also wondering the same thing about the 2.66B)
also, what motherboard is good to overclock these. i heard something about agp/pci lock, is this good to have or it doesnt really matter? ive also heard good things about the EPoX 4G4A+. anyone had any problems with that mobo or any comments on it?

Thanx

The "B" means that the processor runs at a 533MHz Bus. (133Mhz FSB Quad Pumped) As for the Product Code to look for, SL6EF and SL6DV would be C1 stepping 2.40B processors. Another way to know is to check the voltage requirements. The C1 will have a speced voltage of 1.525 volts. The "C1" is a revision to the processor with some slight improvements over the older "B0" revision. (or also known as stepping)

There is no guarantee that the C1 will overclock better than a B0 stepping processor. Some do, some don't. If you have the chance to choose one though, go for the C1 since it is an improved revision.

You never know if a chip will overclock well.
You have to try it to know.
I would expect most of 2.66 will hit 3g easily with good cooling, since it's not much of oc.
But we can see many people getting up to 3g with 2.4b.
With the price difference, I definitely go with 2.4b if I am into it.
You can get c1 2.4b from here.

are all of the 2.53B's C1's also? (like the 2.66B's) or only select models like the 2.4B's?

There are seven different 2.53s, all having the designation SL6xx. Four are B0s (EV, D8, 85 and 82) and three are C1 (S2, EG and DW).

Edited to cure careless transcription.
