Hi

Where I live [ outside the U.S ] I *cannot* get hold of a 2.53 C1 SL6S2 .......... therefore ....... I am looking at a 2.4 C1 SL6EF - they are **EVERYWHERE** here ............so ............

=> is anyone here O/Clocking a 2.4 C1 SL6EF ?

If so:-

=> what speed are you getting, at what voltage with what cooling ?

=> is a 166 FSB a realistic FSB to aim for using the Standard Intel H/S, with pad removed, ASIII applied and a well ventilated case ?

=> if I can, should I get the SL6RZ [ multi-vid 2.4 C1 ] instead of the SL6EF *if* I can ?

All advise / comments / help much appreciated.

Hi Thugsrook

A bit confused - your sig says you run a 2.53:-

Q => I presume the 2.4 "EF" is a chip you are stress-testing to see how far it gets ?

All I want out of my 2.4 C1 upgrade is to get to 166FSB [ 3 gig ] stable as close to 1.525v as I can - anything above 166 will be a pure bonus / cream on the cake.

Q => from reading your thread, is it overstating the mark to say that a 166 FSB should be a "virtual no-brainer" for a 2.4 "EF" ?

Lastly Thugsrook, am I right in belieivng that:-

=> bumping up the FSB to 166 will have a minimal effect on the CPU temp, *BUT* bumping up the CPU voltage will have a *much* greater impact on the CPU temp ?

Thanks,
BEIF

BEIF ~ you are 100% correct on all accounts, but not all SL6EF chips will get the same OC.
ive had 2 SL6EF chips from newegg ~ the 1st one did not make it to 166fsb at all :(

its still a bit of a gamble ;)

Look at my sig below!! It sis a sl6ef as well...It can do 3.15ghz (175fsb) with 1.53v or defualt voltage....Thugs is right...ocing is a gamble and not all results are similar....On the other hand there are lots of factors thta can keep you from achieving these marks yet have a very good chip....MOBO's ability, HSF combo to deal with heat, ram, and power supply....

List the mobo, ram, power supply, and the rest of the specs on the chip to give us a better insight on the chip and the conditions it will be running in

As Thugs and Duvie pointed out, oc'ing is a gamble... I got one of those *better* SL6EF's where I can run it to 185FSB at default voltage (still testing... just got my BH-7 up and running... :D).

Since you said that you can't get SL6S2, I'd say go for SL6RZ ("L" Malaysia) if you can. They *seem* to get better results than SL6EF's...

I just realized that mine is a sl6eG. It did POST and start w2k install at 3.15 at stock voltage, though (I'm still waiting on a HD to install the OS).

:Q, if thats stable under stress testing that is an amazing OC!!! And isnt the SL6EG a 2.53GHz chip?
