sounds like there are a few more BIOS compatibility
issues cropping up with the Xeon. & some people
are talking about a difference thermally. (can one
run at a higher temperature ?)

(i checked the forum before posting, guess the other
Quad thread started about the same minute.)

lol.... as i was saying in the other thread.

Xeons tend to have a lower startup VID. This helps (sometimes, but not very often) to overclock the cpu higher. Lower VID, means the CPU would ideally require less voltage for the same overclock.

However, Im getting reports that X3220's arent coming as 1.275 stock anymore. There coming as 1.2875 so that kinda ruins the point in getting a xeon.

Now, for some wierd reason, im guessing more on the G0 stamped, the Q6600's are more expensive then the X3220.

So if overclocking ISNT your forte, i would go with whatever is cheaper. There basically identically, they act, heat up, and look the same.

If your looking to push the most out of the cpu in overclocking, then you need to jump on water, and be prepared to spend a lot of money on GOOD Parts. From BOARD PSU and RAM.

Why do you always bring up watercooling in EVERY thread? Dude, Intel gives STOCK heatsinks to all but their top end Quad Core.

A good aftermarket Heatsink/Fan is more than adequet to overclock. You might not get that extra 200Mhz, but who cares? The difference between 3.4 and 3.6 is nothing, for that matter, 3.2 and 3.6 is not much either.
