So I tried war of the roses and it seems kind of....non-twitch? Not like a shooter? Not sure if that gets across what I mean...is the other game like this more like a shooter? ie, you can slash faster/block more smoothly, etc. This almost seems like MMORPG combat.

Yes, War of the Roses is much slower than Chivalry Medieval Warfare which is more twitch like and much faster paced.
