I am wondering if we are starting to see them hitting the marketplace, and if so which vendors and how high is the likelihood you will get one just short of specifying it????

I would like to step into something better here shortly...

Next system....

2.26ghz c1 stepping chip.....3ghz with 176fsb nice....3.2ghz w/ 188fsb very nice!!!!
Granite Bay Dual channel DDR...maybe in an Epox...
(2) 256MB pc3000 Corsair Cas2

it will represent 10% clock increase and about 45-65% increase in bandwidth numbers with actual performance unknown right niow but I may guess based on my current bandwdith and relationship to pc1066 numbers it could be 10-20% increase with the nature of the app really depending.

hehe ~ you need a cold shower Duvie 😉

dont expect to see them until after NOV 14th. (scheduled price drop NOV 10th)
quite a few c1 2.4bs have been purchased from newegg ~ well just have to wait a bit longer til it trickles down to 2.26b and 1.8a.
besides, the longer you wait the cheaper it will be 😉

ill be more then happy to run GBay on my little tiny itty bitty 1.6a 😛

😀

(besides ~ we dont know how well these boards will even run yet)

I will too.....But the itch to get to 3ghz and do it with speeds approaching pc3000 will be very intriguing.....

I just need something new to play with and I want to make sure I am heading up with my purchases!!!!

Not yet!!! I am planning on 512mb total...I rarely use much more then about 300 of it now....

I will sell my pc3000 cas2 512mb stick, sell my radeon 8500Le card as I just got the Radeon 8500DV AIW card...With that money I should be able to pick up 2 sticks of Cas 2 pc3000 256mb Corsair at googlegear...

What do you think??? I see Lastride is doing it right now as well as some other regulars to this forum....

haven't been into CPU's for a while so I don't know the terms.. anyone care to explain what this new stepping means? maybe getting a p4 soon so need to know if I should get it or wait. thanks!

As far as I understand it as the p4 is ramping up and the negineers are producing greater and greater speeds they often rework the pathways and gates to be more efficient and to handle higher speeds...ARgh!!! That is maybe BLAH BLAH BLAH, but that is what I think it is....However the c1 stepping is the newer form in which the 2.8 and 3.06ghz chips are being processed and since intel doesn't have fab line for certain chips, all the chips become c1 steeping whether they need to run 3.06ghz or 1.8ghz. So if you oc a lower speed chip like the 1.8a or 2.26b can likely have the same end speed when puched. Intel gets ecent yields to this point and so many chips are just downgraded to meet market demand.

More current B0 steeping chips seem to have a limit under 3ghz and more around the 2.8ghz range at 1.6v...

Newer C1 steeping which is already out for all chip 2.4b and above are getting more and more to reacvh 3ghz and just slightly beyond....

Unless you find that rare dealer that sells them as c1 or lets you pick a sl code, you are playing a guessing game....

P4 CPU codes

Otherwise if you buy one look for the SLxxx code and then go to this page and look for yourself....

Not really a surprise, the 2.26GHz P4 we use for overclocking was able to get as high as 3.0GHz on 1.6V on the Albatron PX845PEV Pro in our tests, and might have gone higher with more juice (if you're not already aware, Albatron specifically states on their site that you can run 166MHz FSB with memory at 400MHz with the right parts (good CPU and RAM) on their 845PE boards. It certainly proved true for our tests).

EDIT: Btw, that's a B0 stepping.

Yeah, what are the ratios on this motherboard? I just ordered one for my C1 2.0GHz that I'm running at 3GHz, 150MHz FSB, 1.525V, but don't understand their ratios from the review here.

Wowah! You got a C1 2.0 @ 3Ghz at 1.575 Vcore? Is that default or .75 higher? Thats awesome! I cant wait for my 2.26 😀

BawahahH! OMG 1.8 @ 3.3 at 1.6Vcore!!!! JESUS DO THESE BABIES OC!

Hey Duvie,

Got any recommendations if I want to use dual 512MB sticks with Granite Bay, keep in mind what I'm most likely going to do to it🙂 Most likely getting an Epox also as the P4T533 I have is swaying me not to get another ASUS board.
