Ok, I recieved my new setup today and will be putting it together tomorrow and I have heard what a sweet overclocker the 2.26B is and would like some help in getting the right settings to overclock my chip...

Pentium 4 2.26B Retail
Epox 4G4A+ Motherboard
Corsair 512MB XMS PC3200 DDR Platinum
Leadtek A250TD Ultra G4 Ti4600
Arctic Silver 3
Swiftech MCX478 w/Delta Fan
Antec SX1040B w/3 Panaflo 80mm Fans (2 Exhaust, 1 Intake)

I was hoping that you guys could explain to me what you mean by the settings being 1:1, 4:5, etc.?
Also what settings should I look for as far as FSB, Vcore, etc.
I would really like to get a good overclock here and hopefully with your help I can achieve that. I've built many a system, just never really overclocked... Thanks, Jared M.

I would set your memory settings to manual, not spd, and case 2.5 to start. Set your ratio setting to 4:5 and fsb (cpu clock) to 140-145 and see if it will run stable at the default cpu voltage. Then, I would try 1.65 volts. I saw little or no improvement above this setting. 4:5 ratio = cpu fsb 133/166 (memory speed). Cpu speed is quad pumped (533) while memory is double pumped (333) Above 133 fsb for the cpu is when you need quality memory. Good luck.

Just goot everything installed and found that overclocking may be a little more difficult thhan ppre-concieved. I tried to open it up and hit 2.55 with no Vcore adjustmennts and a 4:5 diivider, it wouldn't boot into windows, I think I may have to cut the vcore up just a tad. My memory is working reallly well since it's rated @ PC3200 but with Sandra mmy benches are low, somewhere are the 2415 mark @ default speed. My case temp is 27 degrees C and my CPU temp is 35 degrees C and 38 @ load. I woould really like to hit at least 22.8GHZ...anny suggestions? Thanks.

i got nearlt the exact same set up as you/

2.26b p4
epox 4g4a

leadtek gf4 4600
retail heatsink with as3

i only got the mem in a couple of days ago as the 1st stick was faulty

try these settings which are what im using

2.26 @2.8 1.625v (biso reads it 1.59-1.60) and 1:1 ddr - should be able to get all settings turbo
2.26@2.76 1.6v and 4:5 ddr404 c2.5 @2.6v 2.5cas 6-3-3 (sandra mem bench 3065/3068) which is fast enuf :)

Well, I tried the settings which you reccomended and I can't get them to work, for some reason I can't get this thing to boot into windows at anything close to 2.4GHZ. I'm sitting at 2.3GHZ w/ Turbo RAM settings and the 4:5 divider on at the moment, will run a few tests to see if anything improved.

ouch, looks like you may have got a dud :( Btw, do you have the RAM in DIMM 2? That might help. What's your pack date? What are your temps like?

No, the RAM is in in DIMM1 and even when I tried upping the vcore to 1.65, the hottest it got was 41 degrees C. As for the pack date I'm not sure but the chip was manufactured in Malaysia...

With that recent of a pack date, I would expect a pretty decent OC. Put your RAM in DIMM 2, since the 4G4A seems to OC better with the RAM in DIMM 2. Set the mem ratio to 1:1. You always OC the CPU first by keeping the mem ratio at 1:1, also, keep all the BIOS settings except FSB and voltage at default, so turn off turbo RAM. Try upping the vcore to 1.6v and see if that helps.

just relax all settings...u might want to disable all features that not being use as well...
up vcore...set mem ratio to 1:1...

This is not how you start. He's trying to overclock the CPU, not the memory. Begin by setting the memory conservatively, by SPD, 1:1. Then, after you know how high the CPU will go, you can tweak the RAM to get more bandwidth (begin with 4:5, if that doesn't work, try CAS 2, etc)
