I'm curious about this too. I'm planning on pairing one of these chips up with the new Granite Bay coming out soon.

Heres what I've read so far.

The best chips seems to be the ones with C1 stepping not B0. All of these chips you have listed are not officially C1 but they are starting to trickle down into this chips. Some people have been getting C1's from newegg in the 2.4ghz and 2.53ghz versions. I havent seen any reports on a 2.26ghz C1 yet.

The 2.53 and the 2.4 seem to be the most likely candidates to hit 3ghz. Although its really just the luck of the draw. Most 2.26's seem to hit around 2.8ghz average where the 2.4ghz and 2.53ghz may hit 3ghz. But a lot of people I've seen are hitting just under 3ghz with those chips too.

The B0 chips seem to be hitting right under 3ghz in the 2.8ghz to 2.9ghz range. It really just seems the luck of the draw. All three of these chips are candidates to hit 3ghz. People seem to have better luck with the C1's thats all.

Its making me think if I should grab a 2.26ghz (although its the same price as the 2.4ghz) and go for 2.8ghz or so and run 166FSB or Dual Channel DDR333. Would be very nice bandwith. If it hits 3ghz the more the merrier.

I'd like to see what other people have to say about this.

My experience, I have tried the 2.4a, 2.4b abd 2.53. None will guarantee 3.0.

Your best chance is with the 2.53. Dont use a SIS648 chipset board cause you wont get very far.

How are you doing, man?
Long time no talk :) :) :)

I am getting 2.53 myself on 6th for $132. But I am gonna use 850E chipset,
since I got that mobo that Tom's Hardware site called the best 850E chipset mobo
for now: Gigabyte 8IHXP.

Decided to go with it cause of faster memory, which I am getting for $130 shipped (PC800).
I thought I'd never touch rambus memory due to their auwful act with the memory manufacturers...
Glad they lost the case :) :) :)

Right now with no gaurantees of c1 steppingon any of those chips I would go with the 2.26ghz chip since it has the possibility of the highest fsb....couple that with a dual ddr mobo to come out and you will be sitting a lot prettier then if you got the 2.53ghz chip but couldn't get much further then the 2.26ghz maxed out....

If you can get c1 stepping chip then get that as that ius truly your best bet at 3ghz plateau....

Where and when can you get a 2.53ghz p4 for 132 bucks????

I actually have an SiS648 board and it overclocks quite well. I can run colpletely stable at 2.9Ghz on my 2.53. If I upped the voltage I could go higher, but I'm not about to do that.

My P4 2.53 B0 hit 3.040 GHz(stable) with stock cooling (1.7 Vcore) with the asus p4 533-E, now working @ 3.325 (1.8Vcore-modded) watercooled on the new Gigabyte 8PE 667 Ultra.
