2 22inch monitors or 1 24inch monitor?

Hi guys. I am looking to replace my 5yr old 19inch CRT monitor. I have been doing a lot of thinking and can't make up my mind about what new monitor to get. I have these two options.

1) 2 22inch monitors (about $400 total)
2) 1 24inch (Dell 2407WFP) - $600

I can't believe the 2 22inch are so much cheaper than a single 24inch. If you had an option; what would you get?

Ah, crap. I wasn'y paying attention to which button I had clicked, and I accidentally voted for a single 24" monitor. My bad. I meant to vote for two 22" monitors.

Wow I'm the same situation...I've had this 19" CRT and now I'm planning to replace it with 2 22's. I'd definately go for the 22 inch monitors as opposed to the 1 24 inch, it'll just be a more versatile setup IMO. My plan is to have Windows Media Center running on one monitor while I use the other monitor for general desktop use. When the Q6600 drops price, I'll be able to watch/record TV on the other monitor while playing a game on the main monitor.

Btw, which monitors are you looking at getting? I haven't been able to find any 22" WS monitors for $200 each.

i would for sure go dual 22 for functionality ... 2 screens is nice ... like im using my 32" LCD HDTV and my 17" sony LCD ... would rather have 2 then just 1 bigger one

I have 2 20"s. I would rather have 1 20" and 2 17" flankers, but a 20" is just too close to a 20" that it is stupid to get a 17" any more. The issue is I need to build a bigger desk :(

Oh is that deal still going on? I figured they'd be all sold out by now...my friend went early in the morning and by the afternoon they were all sold out.

It depends on if you need all of that space. Those Acer's are TN's... lowest of the low in quality. Personally I would go with the 24" unless you really need all of that space.

24" would seem to be an easy choice. Dual monitors just aren't for me. In addition, the color depth of 24" monitors is much better.

I agree, superior quality 24"panel to 2x22" inferior TNs,no brainer.

I've been struggling with this decision for a while. The poll results are pretty 50-50 also..

depends on what you do. general surfing, coding and everyday stuff, 2x22 give u more screen real estate. But for gaming, most games don't take advantage of dual setup so 1x24 will be much better. I have a 24 inch for my main machine and 2x17 for my linux server. I'd say if you are looking to play game, go for 24 inch.

In my opinion all the 22-inch TN's are pretty crappy moniters because when I was shopping for LCD's back in January I looked at a bunch of them & was very disappointed in both the color reproduction/accuracy & the overall image quality they provide ... they look ok while gaming but do a poor job everywhere else.

Most 24 inch moniters are AU-Optronics P-MVA panels which provide both decent gaming performance & vastly better color reproduction which is why I ended up going with one myself after extensive research & in-person comparisions.

If you are gonna do lots of development, dual monitor setup is probably best for you. Nothing beats doing development on one screen, google on the other to find codes so you can "reuse" it. :)

Don't listen to all the TN haters, I love my 22" monitor. But, I am not one for dual monitors, just doesn't seem natural to me. Whenever I see a gaming system where they have multiple LCD's rigged up to show different parts of the same image, it looks stupid to me.

Now if the Dell 2407WFP will go on sale for like $500.. this would be an easy decision

Do you just do computer stuff on the monitors? Lots of gaming? Little bit of gaming? If you've got things like a PS3 or Xbox360 and want to use it on the monitor, the 24" would be better due to more inputs and bigger size.

But if it's mainly for work with some gaming on the side, two 22" screens is more productive and the resolution is easier to run for games.

I use an Acer 22" screen and I like it a lot :) . What you may want to do is buy a single 22" screen and then later you can pick up a second screen if you still are interested (or just pocket the extra cash).
