I just got these great HD's the WesternDigital SATA 10000 rpm raptors so I gotta set up raid 0. With my Asus p4p800 deluxe mobo I see they have provided a few 'makedisk' utilities along with the 2 raid drivers for both IDE and SATA. However with neither floppy installation will XP recognize the HD in stiped raid. So I go looking through files that came with Asus CD on the device tree and come up with files located on the inoperable SATA raid controller called iastor.sys. I load all iastor.sys files on a floppy, delete the raid set create a new one, install using the floppy and voila I got the OS running after a 45 second, 72 gig format. Only now I have application problems, crashes weird errors and programs doing some funny stuff now and again. I gotta figure these kind of instability problems can be contributed to using the incorrect driver. Asus doesn't know what I'm talking about and recommended doing something I've already done, that is not using makedisk and copying certain recomended files manually, certainly to no avail. Why do not the correct drivers work for installation of XP prof, and what the heck are these files I'm using to have a semi-stable OS up and running, going to do for general system stability. Much thanks to the person who answers this one.
