I'll be picking up this Yamaha V573 receiver today so I'm looking for a 2.1 system to go with it.

It will be mostly used for music, with some TV and little to no movie watching. I am in a small apartment so I don't need a huge subwoofer that will wake up the neighbors. Also, do not have much space on my entertainment stand so floor speakers would be preferred.

I am a complete noob with this so any help is welcome :p

Yeah, budget is really needed here. Else you will get people recommending things like Transmission Audio Inc's "ULTIMATE" (its $2 million, but has 32meters of 2" ribbon drivers, 2meters of 1" ribbon drivers, 24x 8" woofers, and 20x15" woofers per channel (i.e. left, or right so double that for a 2.0 setup))....

But that is a steal compaired to Shape Audio's "Organic Harmony" Gold edition. And by gold they really mean 18k gold. I think current price is around $7.6 million per pair, but it fluctuates based on market gold prices, which if you havn't noticed have been going up, up, up... Would have been a good investment 3 years ago though (would probably be one of the only pairs of speakers that gained value...)

Well apparently Fry's has no record of my store pickup order and they don't have any left in stock, so no luck on the receiver.

Won't be purchasing speakers now but my budget would have been $750

Get yourself a pair of nice studio monitors. They're small, so good for apartments, and sound great.
