Ok so maybe I am an idiot but I bought a 2 1/2" to 3 1/2" hard drive adapter and can not get the drive to recognize, can anyone think of something off the top of their heads that I should need to know?

On one side it has a block for the pins of the laptop hdd ide part, and on the other side it has the block of pins to plug into an IDE cord, and a molex connector. So I plug the laptop hdd into its side, plug the other into and IDE cable, and the molex into a molex from the PSU, but this leaves the 4 pins for power on the laptop HDD untouched, and doesnt show up on my PC.

Is it an ATA66 or higher drive? If so, did you use an 80-wire cable? You will need to unkey the 80-wire cable or cut off the proper pin from the adapter (be careful, once cut those pins are hard to put back) as most of the 80-wire cables come keyed (one hole plugged) from the factory. You can "unkey" a cable with a HOT paper clip - catch my drift. ;) All the pins of the drive should be in the drive side connector (44-pins) - it is NOT keyed so make sure you have pin 1 to pin 1. If not, something's hinky! And pin 1 of the IDE cable has to be on the same end as pin one of the drive.
