$2,000 in damage...

OutHouse

Lifer
My 5 year old water heater decided to spring a leak Saturday night when my wife and I went out for dinner. Got home about 9:30 and found our laundry room and kitchen flooded, and some water starting to leak into our bedroom.

The damage apraiser from State Farm came out Monday and took pictures and wrote all the damage down. He just called and said the damage is 2K minus the 500 buck deductable. Not too bad, could have been worse if we stayed out longer and almost did because the kids were at the grandparents for the night .😀 😉

yes i had a sh*tty weekend.

At least your toilet didn't overflow or you'd be quite literal when you said "yes i had a sh*tty weekend."

what kind of work do you have to have done?

new water heater and what else?

I have a modular, so most of the water went through the house was was trapped in the plastic under the house holding the insulation. I went under the house and used a wire coat hanger to poke holes so all the water could drain. so about 1/2 of the insulation under my house needs to be replaced. A new floor put in were the water heater sat, the flooring was so saturated it was starting to bow under the weight of the heater, and the carpet pad in our bedrrom needs to be replaced.

Hey, at least you have insurance to help out (minus the deductable of course). Are you going to do it yourself or have someone do it? Did the estimate include installation costs?
