I am moving to a new apartment and won't have room for the subwoofer that comes with my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 set. While I love the Klipsch, I'll have to find a good 2.0 set to replace them and save some space.

Any suggestions for a 2.0 system for less than $150? Obviously I won't meet the quality of the Klipsch bass without a subwoofer, but I'm looking for a crisp sounding set.

Thus far I've looked at the Bose Companion 2 series II's (for $89), and the Audyssey Lower East Side Media Speaker for $109 and the M-Audio Studiophile AV40 (for $140).

I'd also consider a 2.1 set with a much smaller subwoofer than the Klipsch.

Would any of the options rival the Promedia 2.1 in quality of sound or is it personal preference? I don't need booming volumes or subwoofer level bass.

Swans make some amazing audiophile equipment($50,000 speakers) and has a highly acclaimed yet affordable desktop line.

For $139, this one is considered neck to neck with the M-Audio AV40, so it might boil down to aesthetics for this one.

If you can stretch a bit to $179, the 5.25" woofer would provide a good lowrange, although these are full sized bookshelf speakers and definitely aren't your average satellites.

I have the Swan M200 and I bought a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 for my gf, and the Swans make the Klipsch sound tinny, despite the Klipsch having deep hard hitting bass with its dedicated subwoofer. The larger woofers just brings a much fuller sound with more presence.

Swan also has a smaller M10 with a compact 5" subwoofer. It doesn't hit nearly as hard as promedia's subwoofer, but for everything else, it's described to have better clarity than the promedias.

The Swan M10 look like a really good set. Once I move (Saturday) and get my monitors set up, I'll see if I have room under them for the "midwoofer." It's much smaller than the Klipsch subwoofer, so as long as it fits on my desk, I'll jump on it.

Thanks for everyone's advice! I was considering grabbing the Gigaworks T40 or Audessy LES before looking into the Swans.

Swan M10's appear to be sold out everywhere, so I will have to be patient (not my greatest virtue), or go for the AudioEngine A2's that are being sold on Massdrop for $130. I feel like the A2's at $130 is a huge steal, but reviews stating muddy mids and overly boomy bass scare me.

Oh man, that is a great price for those A2s, and both colors are available...
