Re: coolant — nowadays I am in the camp of those who use distilled water only.
Years back when I built my first liquid cooling loops, I mixed car antifreeze into the distilled water for two reasons: To prevent growth of algae (not needed in my experience since then) and as a lubricant for the pump, notably for the seal of the pump (not sure if needed or not).
