Current build I'm thinking of:

CPU/VID CARD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?ItemList=Combo.199014

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231189

CD/DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16827151173

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817371015

OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16832116488

Is it worth it to go 64-bit?

I still haven't decided on a case. I'm not sure if I should go mid or full tower. I also need to get a keyboard and wifi card if you have any good suggestions that are a reasonable price.

All input is welcome!

with your budget, i'd go i7 plus 6gb of ddr3.

antec 300 plus a couple quiet 120mm fans should make for a reasonably sized but well-cooled midtower.

and yes, if you're buying a new OS, go 64bit. 3GB of RAM is probably plenty right now, but it's nice to be able to see all 4 or 6 gigs.

I'd like to keep the price as low as I can, but am willing to put forward the extra cash if that would mean sacrificing too much performance. The i7 seems pretty pricey though. For cases though the Antec 300 seems pretty solid. I was thinking of a Cooler Master, but they run more expensive and are probably the same quality. So you recommend ddr3? Some people say it isn't worth it and to just go for a high speed ddr2, although I really dont know much about it.

The Antec is a very solid choice, I have a 300 and I love it. An alternative though is the CM Centurion 590. It's very similar to the 300, but with a second 120mm fan mount on the side panel and to 120mm's on the top instead of a single 140mm. It's got tool-less drive mounts, and holes in the back for an external WC rad.It also has only one 120mm up front though. You can also mount your PSU either way you like, it has a vent on the bottom for cool air intake, although I wouldn't use it like that unless theres at least 1/2" between case and surface. It's about $15 more last I checked
