Pentium D 915
Crucial Ballistix pc6400 rated 4-4-4-12
Evga 680i
EVGA 8800 GTX

right now im at vcore 1.30 temp 215 860 QdR)*14=3.010ghz, ram 5-5-5-15 at 860mhz, stock cooling

It says on newegg my Ram should be Cas 4 and 4-4-4-12 - but in ntune and other stuff only shows Cas 5 AND if I change to 4-4-4-12 in Bios PC locks up on me. Memory V = 2.0 (it does show 2.2 as max on newegg). Should I set to 2.2 or how can I get those lower timings?

One other question is I have Vista 64 and cpu-z does NOT show me running at 3010 -- shows stock of 2800 BUT in BIOS it does show 3010. Is this just something quirky with Vista 64?

if you are running your ram at a higher speed than what it is rated for then you do need to loosen up the timings a bit, I doubt very much that you could get the rated timings to work correctly at higher than stock ram speeds by increasing the Voltage.

Thanks. Got it running at 915 MHz now on the ram and running 2 instances of orthos with each instance hitting both cores and its running flawlessly so far. Might have to try and bup it up a little more, hehe

I can live with 5-5-5-15 with this OC, lol

you should be able to increase the cpu's clock speed even higher than what you already have it at (assuming you aren't using the stock intel HSF unit), I have an 820 running at 3.4ghz, I raised the Vcore 10% from 1.3v upto 1.43v, it runs 100% stable.

Oh I am running a stock heatsink at 3.6 GHz right now (Vcore = 1.28125 and Mem Core = 1.95) and temps are staying fine so far at 20% usage, lol But I do have a Coolermaster Stacker 831 also which helps. Time to try orthos later though, hehe

Ordering a better heatsink tomorrow as I am upgrading to the Q6600 w/ GO anyhow in a month or so, hehe. Thanks for all the help.

kepp your Vcore around the 10% maximum mark and you should be reasonably safe, 3.6ghz is a pretty good OC on the stock cooler.

Well all was well until the power supply went this morning. Put a new fan in and hit the power on and a nice popping sound. Now no more power supply until they ship me my new one.

Ha d a Thermaltake TOughpower 1000W
