GTO is a fanboi car. You either like it or not..they have terrible resale value.

Not sure where you are at, but GTOs sell pretty high. They are kinda like the CTS-V. The listed value is lower then what people are asking and getting for ones in good shape.

around here $12-15k

You'll be lucky to get an '04 GTO for $15K. Anything selling under $15K will generally have high miles, an automatic trans, or some bad modifications.

At $12K it must be beat to death with a salvage title.

Yep not sure what kind of GTO goes for 12k. I did a serach of 200miles around from Miami and the cheapest one was $12,700 with 71k on it and was also a Auto trans. After that it hit $14k and up.

I have seen some salvage yards want 4k for a GTO motor and wiring system.

I'll buy a second one at that price.

they aren't everyday, but they aren't rare either. I just pulled up Autotrader and locally there is a 04 for 15k with 45k on it. If you want to spend $17k you can get two more wth less than 50k on the clock. Palm Beach County.

Corvettes are cheap too.

can't figure parts pricing...the LS motor is a popular swap and very in demand.

I said 12-15k...15k is easier than 12 of course. They pop up time to time I like the GTO as it's not common. I almost pulled the trigger on one at right around 12k. Manual and less than 50k, it was clean. I don't know what year, but I was looking at it about a year or two ago. It was just in a guy's driveway with a forsale sign on it.

Down here though corvettes are a buyer's market. From a performance standpoint the GTO doesn't make sense over the corvette. It's just the rarity thing it's got going for it, which I like.

ahh thought the CTS-V was the corvette platform. I knew a guy with that very sedan. It was a nice ride....I didn't care for the looks, but many liked it. He always had another chick with him any time we hung out not that the car did this, but he was just average so I don't think the car hurt him at all either ;).

You don't see them everyday and to me with all the same cars everywhere that is a plus.

damn it's like everyone here just googled the car and then agreed with the first few hits.

People tend to complain more than they just go and say 'hey Cadillac you did ok'.

Anyway...the car has muscle, but it's not really 'designed' to drag race. Wheel hop and a more luxury than performance ride target go hand in hand.
