1st day of training at CompUSA today

much like fraternity hazing rituals...expect to be forced to consume large amounts of alcohol and...well i'll let you figure out the rest on your own...

If it's anything like Best Buy, day one is reading a binder of basic sales principles. Day two, they'll just throw you onto the floor to shadow a current salesperson. Don't sweat it, the job is easy as hell.

How can you work for a company like CompUSA or BB when you know there is something called Newegg?

I take pleasure going into those rip-off stores, finding people in like the videocard isle, and start telling them they can buy the same item for at least 10% less, no tax (GA), and free shipping.

I had to wrestle with that in my concience for a while before I decided that the vast majority of consumers in a Best Buy come to buy a complete computer system. They're not the type to mix and match brand name components and DIY. With the added ease of return and, yes, extended warranty service, it's not the worst deal in the world.

Those who don't bother to educate themselves on a purchase are of course doomed to pay a premium for that ignorance. On the flip side, not everyone wants to spend the time to detail all the parts they want and buy them from online retailers.

Forget product knowledge and learn how to push extended warranties, that's all CrapUSA cares about! 😛

Good Luck BriGy86

i just replied to a person that sent me a message "they said i would annoy the world by imposing warrentie's on people"

but ill be working in the networking department selling the hardware and what not

would that make a difference?

some people just like instant satisfaction and can't wait 2-3 days. Sometimes the items they buy in these retail stores aren't that much more overpriced than online. Sometimes money isn't all that important to people.

Wow, so that makes you uber-cool right? I spend my time working my ass off and spending time with loved ones. You spend your time playing the Geek Overlord to people who don't care to wait 3-5 business days to get something cheaper. Not to mention you can't call NewEgg and ask them tech advice. But to each his own
