1mb/s interface burst transfer rate low??

I've been having probs with my cdrw drive (Teac16x w-516eb) and both EasyCD and Nero (not installed simultaneously). I just ran Nero CD Speed and found my interface burst transfer rate was 1mb/s which seems WAY too slow. How should I investigate this further? Any utilities I can try to pinpoint the issue? Thanks.
 
Yep, DMA enabled. Drive benchmarking on SiSoft Sandra 2001 looks pretty good vs. provided benches despite writing errors. I don't know what the issue is. I will have to pull the drive and test in older rig.
