I know its old news but I am wondering which is considered faster on a Asus K8V SE Deluxe Mobo & 1gb Ram pc3200? Does the frequency make that much of a difference over the cache? Thanks for any info.

it depends on the application
but
at the same $$$ which is faster?
get the one with more cache
they both oc to the same point- then the larger cache will be faster

as this is a 754 motherboard the extra cache CAN (app dependent) help more than on a dual channel motherboard
BTW
there is a post by caesar88 where he has his E-Bay sempron 2800 runing at 2.4 on a refurb newegg motherboard- including 1 stick of ram he has about $100 invested

Actually, wyrmrider, back when all of us were buying s754 CPUs, this question was asked like every couple days.

The NewCastles (which run 200 MHz faster but only have 512KB L2 cache) nearly always OCed better & performed better than the Clawhammers (which run 200 MHz slower but have 1 MB L2 cache)

HI
I went back and checked my 754 notes
512k ram 2x256 ddr 400

fastest clock cpu was always faster on one app
however when you loaded up internet and office and av and antispyware
the one with more cache "felt" more responsive even with lower clockspeed
both oced to same
