Busy building my new rig and getting a GOOOOOD deal from a supplier of parts but limited to what he has in stock.
I'm building:
Corsair Obsidian Series 800D case
Watercooled CPU block
360 rad +3 fans,pump,750 res etc
8GB Corsair Dominator GT with DHX and Airflow Fan (If I go for 4 cores)
2 x GTX580's (watercooled and SLI)
Corsair 1000 Watts HX1000W PSU
128 GB Crucial C300 Series SATA III SSD
1 x 2TB HDD
Asus Xonar Essence STX PCI-E Audiophile Sound Card
NZXT fan control sentry LX meter
Might be a few tiny extras (but doubt they'll be power hungry)
I've been reading tests, benchmarks and reviews of the Corsair HX100 PSU and lots of them say that the internals are almost exactly the same as the 1.5kw Thermaltake Toughpower (which is my only option if I want 1.5kw) except for an additional power regulator.
The reviewers reckon that the Corsair is really a 1.5kw PSU but that Corsair couldn't get it above 80% efficiency so branded it as a 1kw.
I'm thinking that heat should be less of an issue for me as I'm WC'ing lots of parts but maybe an aftermarket fan might help PSU stability?
So,having said all that, will the Corsair be enough for my needs? I'd much prefer the Corsair IF it can do the job cos I don't trust Thermaltake as much.
