Heya... im having some seriouse trouble here... i built this computer (not the one im on now the one thats busted right now) toawrd the middle of summer... I recently put some ACII on it and i put a lil much on and it seemed like it was alright for a few weeks untill the computer started freezing a lot... Some how it cleared the CMOS and started running at 750hmz (i figured this wasnt a prob and I would just adjest the multiplyer) so i put it back at 133 fsb and all was well untill it wouldnt display at the win XP loading screen... it does this every time... sometimes it even locks up in the memory check but SOON as i switch it back to 750mhz it works fine... its not a heat issue (even tho i have to hold on the fan for now to fix it cos when i took the HSF off i bork the middle clip by accident) because i checked the Bios and it says its running at aorund 100degrees F witch is fine... but it just freezes up all of the time before even booting up all the way for no reason... i have no idea whats wrong with it... any one have any ideas?
Specs::
1ghz Athlon
256mb Sdram
ECS K7S5A mobo
Geforce 3 ti200 (Gainward) (i have also been having toruble with this... randome crashes saying the drivers are messed up no madder witch drivers i use for it...)
Win XP HE
if any one can help id appreciate it! Thanx in advance...

PS. sry for any spelling errors i was in a hurry when i typed this...

The alphanumeric characters on the cpu die will tell you. Is it a 100 or 133 Athlon?

i ahd the same problem with my 1,4

it was only like at 1 gig... some mobos keep the deafult fsb below the 133 its supposed to be at and it starts at 100 (x7.5 = 750) so just increase it to 133... you wont need any extra fans cooling etc its MEANT to run at 133 so just a small oc.... gl

Could possibly be low voltage from your PSU. Runs fine at 750MHz with the lower voltage but not enough juice for 1 GHz.

Just a thought.

i dont understand, people are saying that its a fsb problem, not multiplyer. change your fsb from 100 to 133.

multiplier is on the left .. pay attention now, FSB is on the right.

7.5 x 100 = 750
7.5 x 133 = 1000

People have been telling you to raise the FSB .. not the multiplier.
I have read your original post, and I gotta be honest, your articulation is weak, I couldn't really make too much sense of it. Take your time when you write up a thread, especially if you need help with something, it helps all of us if you can accurately describe the problem.

its not a heat issue (even tho i have to hold on the fan for now to fix it cos when i took the HSF off i bork the middle clip by accident)
I think that this might be a problem. I don't know if it's your only problem, but that is not good.

edit: too late, you fixed it.

I would say it is a memory problem, set the ram to cas 3 and normal timing and try that.

no its NOT a heat issue because it did the same before i broke my clip... and yes i know its not good thats why im ordering a new HSF... my post made sence to me... all im saying is that when i run it at 1000mhz the computer freezes and when im running in 750hmz it doesnt... and that it never happend before untill after it crashed cos of Vidcard probs... and it worked fine at 1000mhz for like 5 months and now all of the sudden it doesnt...

The strange thing is that the mobo automatically reduced the FSB down to 100.
Is this physically possible? I don't know much about this mobo, but does it have a jumper that sets 100/133 FSB?
What is the setting on your ram?
Is it possible that the CPU may be remarked one. (which is unlikely I know..)

I think your computer got tired of your poor grammer and weak spelling skills.

it's in the bios. The bios will reset itself sometimes after a weird crash, not sure why, but it is very possible, I've had it happen to me a few times.
