1GB to install a webcam?!

grrl

I just finished loading and then removing an MS webcam (VX-3000). It added a gig of shit upon install (primarily .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.0) and still didn't fully function. MS says there's a known problem with XP and recommends I install SP2, which my system already has.

Time to look into Logitech.

I've seen this for the MS cameras I've used. I have no idea why a simple driver is sufficient for the cameras. It's a PITA to install the software.

The MS page says installation "typically" requires 25 MB, but it also calls for 300-700 MB of free space. All I know it installed .NET Framework and some other stuff. The camera came with LifeCam 1.4, but I DLed the latest version, 2.0. Maybe it has greater requirements, but I doubt that.

The Logitech looks like a good choice, maybe even too good for my needs. The MS cam was free, so I can just sell it or give it away. Nothing's really been lost.
