1GB SD card only detected as 128MB

Just got a lexar 1GB SD card. My dell axim x50v and my dads hp 435 camera only detect it as 128mb. I dont have a card reader so I am a little unsure of what my computer would show it as.

Does it sound like the card is defective?

formatted card is still only 128 i think its defective

it's also possible that the camera's BIOS is not new enough to detect the larger SD cards. I know I had to install a new BIOS onto my Toshiba PDR-M5 to support 512mb cards.
