Arrrrg, I just cant decide what I want to do.
Next week I will finish building my A64 system, I already have a mobo (Abit KV8) and I'm going to get either a retail boxed 3000 or 3200+ but I cant decide wether to stick with the 9500pro I have now and buy a gig of ram or buy a 6800 Vanilla and stick with the 512mb of pc2100 I have now. I will only have enough money to do 1 :( Please help!

TIA,

You'll get more "gaming" performance from a 6800 w/ 512MB vs the 9500 Pro w/ 1GB. Then next month when you save up another ~80.00 pick up an additional 512MB module.

Just get the 1GB of RAM if you'd have to stick with PC2100.

Well you can run with the 2100 ram. It will degrade erformance some though. But the performance leap would be bigger with the 6800 AFAIK. Just buy the 6800 now and save up some cash to buy the ram next month i say :)

I would actually say keep what you have for another month or so. you have all the components you need. save up the money. in say 2 months get a 6800 GT. see if you can overclock the ram, your chances of getting hte ram to 3200 if it is good ram are mediocre but whatever you can squeeze out of it for now, do. then another month or two past that get the gig of ram. I wil grant you that the gt is not much better that the vanilla in most of the games we have now and that the vanilla 6800 is way way faster than the 9500 but the price perfomance the GT is a much better buy. video card and ram are the two things you really don't want to skimp on so don't bew in a rush to upgrade now. the system will run quite well as it stands now. also, if you sell your 9500 and 512 of 2100 you will get a good chunk more money to buy these items with. so fi you can buy them now you probably have about $300(hypothetically) sell your items, you shoudl get about another $200 for them, you'll have $500, look around on Hot Deals, I would not be suprised if you could get both fro $500 if you catch some good deals or if you get at least one off of FS/T.

With the GT that is a total of $530

Thanks for the replys guys,
Im probably going to get the 6800 and get the ram later on.
As for selling the 9500 pro and ram(once i upgrade) im not sure, I was planning on using them in my GF's system. She is a huge Sims freak and wants to play Sims2 when it comes out and the 9500 pro should be able to handle it with no major problems.
If anyone has any other comments please post them, more opinions are always good.

thanks,
