$159 - $20MIR = $139

Link

KVR400AK2/1GR (Full Specifications)
1GB 400MHz DDR (PC3200) DIMM CL3

Does anyon know if this memory:
1) Would work on Dell 400SC in dual channel mode?
2) Is it fast enough?

Hmm. I'm very tempted. My last Kingston sticks were excellent.

But I don't know if I will notice the difference between 512mb and 1GB. I multitask like crazy but that means like 7 mozilla browsers open at once and maybe a DVD playing in the background. My comp seems fast enough.

$158 for two at Newegg today. From Kingston, $159.99 plus sales tax is $173.19 out of pocket, minus $20 rebate, final cost $153.19. Less than $5 difference, no rebate to fool with -- I know what I would do.

Actually, kingston only charges tax in certain states (albiet more than newegg).

Sales Tax:
Kingston has a presence in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Washington and will collect appropriate taxes if shipping to these states. Among them, Connecticut, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Washington, the freight is also taxable.

May want to read here, approximately half way down the FAQ.
2) Is it fast enough?
Difficult to define "fast enough". Fast for one user may seem slow to another.

So what Newegg ram are you talking about. I looked and can not find anything that is called KVR400AK2/1GR as on the Kingston link page. OK, found some ram for $79, that must be it.

MEMORY Support 3 un-buffered DDR200/266/333/400,
On Board 3 x 184-pin DDR Socket, Up to 3 GB

will these 3200 RAM work on my mobo or is it a overkill?

Actually KVR overclocks quite well...i'm sure you could get it to do 2.5 with a lil voltage bump

Yep my last stick of 2700 CAS3 KVR actually did CAS2 at stock voltage WITH a FSB overclock. Quite impressive.

Very nice price breakdown =P I'd go with the NewEgg.com deal if I needed more RAM, since I live in San Francisco, California and would get charged sales tax.

I think you are forgetting that since you are in CA newegg will also charge you sales tax. Getting it from Kingston is a much better deal.
