I found a new host last week that I'm really liking sofar. www.arielhost.com

website isn't that impressive when you first look at it, but you get alot of features, great support and it is the 9th fastest host in the us. they don't oversell either.

I like it alot. Its simple, efficient, lots of features and does everything I need it to do. Then again I don't have much experience with control panels other than 1&1's and (get ready...) godaddy's pathetic webhosting control panel.

from ariels blog:

DirectAdmin: Before launching ArielHost, we paid a 3rd party company a lot of money to evaluate the various control panel programs and give us the pros and cons of each. DirectAdmin wins hands down for stability. We?ve been totally satisfied with it, and several customers who were used to traditional cPanel hosting have indicated that they would never go back now that they?ve tried DA.

cPanel is the most popular but I still prefer DirectAdmin.

got the 3 years free deal...

they r decent

I was running my car club off of them. Got to be a hassle with fees and changes so I switched to Moreweb. They are still a decent host but service is slow/lacking and they get pricey.

They shut down my site once because my credit card renewed and because the date wasnt valid on the card anymore payment didnt go through so instead of sending me a warning they just delete my entire site and freeze it. Then i try to cancel with them and they are like we have to wait till the end of the billing cycle. What a pain in the butt they are.

I got the first 3 years deal too. They're decent, but I'm wondering what it's going to cost me when my account soon expires. (if it hasn't already)

They are reliable once your site is up and running. Their log in system (both web admin and ftp) suck hardcore. The username and password system couldn't possibly be any worse.

The last Moreweb deal offering 2GB/50GB was insanely hot.

1. I'd avoid 1&1. Search webhostingtalk.com. YMMV.
2. OP, what's your budget, what what type of content (personal/business/whatchamaycallit) do you want to host?

Man that 1and1.com, my friend got that for free.. I don't know how the heck can he got that for free but he told me that he had that when they promote it for free until now it gives hosting for free but with a random url address :/
