1am in Alaska... (video, now with DivX format)

I'm in North Pole, Alaska (no, not that North Pole, it's a small town outside Fairbanks)... anyway, I was taking my dog out and figured you guys might get a kick out of a video I took of how bright it is outside. It was taken at 1:10am...

We just had our summer solstice yesterday, which is the longest amount of sunlight for the year.

Anyway, here is the video...

1am in Alaska Quicktime (around 7.3megs)
1am in Alaska DivX 5 (Thanks paruhd0x) (around 3.7megs)

EDIT: Here is the sunlight info from Wunderground.com (link):

Length of Day: 21h 44m
Length Of Visible Light: 24h 00m

I'd be shocked if he hasn't.. Heh.

Downloading too.

Damn, that's awesome. 🙂

I would love to live in Alaska, at least for a couple of years.

Heh, as Eli said.... you'd have to be blind not to in the winter. They aren't visible during the summer months as it's too bright. It's one of the most (if not the most) beautiful naturally occuring things you can see on the earth, IMO. I've seen them in all colors, though green is most common. I've seen red, which is the rarest, but that was at 35k feet in an Airliner. Amazing from that height.

In any case, this winter I'm going to be experimenting around with the slow shutter (13 second) and high aperature of my digicam. I got it too late in the year to take any this year.

I'm patient, post some high res pics when you get them. I would really like to see it.

You got hot women in bikinis year round... we get women and bikinis for about 3 months a year. Of that, most shouldn't be allowed in a bikini.... though, the upside is that toward the end of summer it's get chilly outside and you know what that does to women's nips in a bikini. 🙂

That is just nasty, young man. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I can convert that video to DiVX if you want.

If you want, but I think it's small enough that it's not really a big deal. But like I said, I'll host if you want to convert it for me. Thanks
