1999 Mazda 626 Electrical Problems

I just picked up a '99 626 from NJ, and was dumb enough not to test the headlights/turn signals before driving away. The left signal ticks too fast and the head lights flicker sometimes. There seems to be a buzz coming from one of the power relays in the fuze box under the hood. I think that one of the mechanics might have been doing some electrical work on the car before i picked it up because the fuse box cover was off when i popped the hood. The radio was stolen from the car this morning before I picked it up, so that is understandable. The dealer told me to just take it somewhere and get whatever is wrong fixed, and to send him the bill, so i'm not to concerned, I'm just curious what might be wrong. I've been looking for a V6 5spd 98' or newer 626 for a while, so this one jumped out as the engine/tranny/body/interior are all in near mint condition.

The car was tampered with, the radio stolen and yet you still took it? Brilliant!

For for what may be wrong, it could be a BILLION things.

Just take it to a shop, have it fixed, and send the dealer the bill . . . problem solved.

I've had a couple cars where one of the turn signals would start ticking way too fast, it was a blown fuse every time.

Excuse me if i don't take you completley seriously. I fixed the problem with the lights today. Their was a security system attatched to the headlights that had been removed. The splice that whoever removed it did, was horrible. I simply respliced the wire's properly, and now that all works. The only remaining problem is the AC, and that may just have a very slow leak, or there just wasn't enough frein put into the system last time it was recharged. That's definatley going to get paid to be fixed by the dealer so, alls well that ends well i guess.

When the resistance in the turn signal circuit increases, the blink rate speeds up. The most common cause of this is a burnt-out turn signal bulb, though a blown fuse could conceivably also cause it.

It was an issue of resistance. When the lights were spliced back in they weren't crimped, the wires were just twisted and taped. I restripped both wires, crimped them, and now both lights and signals work fine. The only remaing issue is the AC, and thats getting fixed in a couple days.
