Back to my 3rd vehicle idea again...............

Ya, I know, I know.........it's cheaper to drive my full-size truck & let $100/mo burn up in gas fumes, but I just can't help to think I can take that extra $100 in gas fumes & do something fun with it.............so while this may not be my OVERALL monthly money-saver, it'd definitely be my new toy.....err.......Toy?? (No pun intended) ;)

I figure at $2K, it'll pay for itself rather quickly.

Opinions are like a-holes so let 'em fly...................

I'd go for it. I still drive a 1995 Corolla DX and while it's nothing special, it gets 30mpg and the ride is pretty decent.

Ya, that's all I really want is an uber-high MPG car.

Seeing as these were probably mostly highway miles, I can't imagine a '99 is run-down enough to warrant as much concern as say......a '92 or something older with similar mileage. (Note that post '94 already have R134a refrigerant for their A/C too so no worries about converting A/C, etc.)

Plus as a newer vehicle, it'll have the safety features that would be good for a runabout toting kids. (Airbags, ABS, etc)

It has never had the clutch or Timing belt changed so I'd probably at least change the timing belt for good measure, but I'd let the clutch go 'til it actually showed signs of needing changed.

Any opposition to my hair brain idea???

Ya dude, that sounds like an amazing deal...I have a 92 camry station wagon (v4 engine same as corolla) and it has 330,000 km on it...still running super strong. Corollas last forever :)

Those things really do have bullet proof engines, I know several people with corollas that have over 300,000 miles on them.

Do it! We have a 1996 Corolla DX and it's still going strong. The book value of it is ~$6000CAD too :D

Ya, I came very close to buying a V6 when I got my Camry. Certainly more fun, but as of 8/27/2005, I'm sure a Fvck glad I did not buy a V6!!!

The sole purpose of this sucker would be to get 30mpg all day & night!!!

By that mileage some problems could begin to show through, but at 2k, it's low risk on a car that's most likely reliable. Gopherit.

My 98 Chevy Prism with Fully working AC and 90K Miles wouldn't go for near anything that even though the Corolla and the Prism are the EXACT SAME CAR.

Stupid Brand naming. :(

if it doesn't save you money overall, IT CAN'T PAY FOR ITSELF.

it doesn't matter if the car is a good deal. 3 cars are going to cost you more than 2 cars. if you want to save money sell one of your cars and get this one, as it is probably a good car and has a lot of life left in it. as a 3rd car? sure, if you want to flush money down the toilet.

dont worry about the car.

start delivering Tofu at early mornings thru winding mountain roads and you can beat any car with yours!

until you push it too hard against an above average car, then your father will hook you up with a special racing engine .. ooooh but to teach you a lesson, fit it with a non-matching tachometer!!!! zoink!!!

the engine comes alive @ 10k rpm my grasshoppa!!!
