Found a 98 740iL Protection for a good price, 90,000 miles. Thoughts?

The protection package includes:
?Bullet resistant against light arms fire up to .44 magnum - security glass all around. Aramide-armored body panels in all doors, rear bulkhead, wheel housings, roof and pillars. Glass/steel

😀

May I recommend a Black Lincoln LS as these are PURE mafia mobiles. The windows roll down very fast for your shooting pleasure.🙂

We've looked at those. Also the Jaguar S-Type, which is on the same platform.

The spelling in this thread amazes me...did any of you graduate high school???

BTW-The '98 BMW 740 is not a very reliable car. You can expect thousands and thousands of dollars in repairs every year on that car. My Mom-In-Law had one. It's a beautiful car and very powerful but it is not reliable. I asked our BMW mechanic about it because I was thinking of buying her car a couple years ago before she got rid of it but he strongly recommended against it (this from a guy who would have directly profited from my buying the car).

I do my own work, so I'm not really worried about the cost.

EDIT: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/relia...aspx?year=1998&make=BMW&model=7-Series

Who would pay $1800 for a catalytic converter? I'd stick a couple of dummy O2 sensors and a straight pipe on that bad boy before I paid $1800 for parts. 😛

I looked at the Jag S-Type but those are also horribly unreliable.

Yeah, sounds like waterpumps and transmissions, but I can't figure that out since Ford uses teh same transmission in the LS and it's fine. 😕

I was looking at an 89 lincoln town car and it hit me that the 5.0L engine in there was the same that was in mustangs of the day

Anything from a 5.0L mustang, including the racing headers, exhaust, w/e, could all fit in an 89 lincoln. Man, I'd love one of those... or even better... an 89 Caddy 🙂

Oh wow protection from a .44 magnum. That means that basically any rifle round would penetrate it easily, and most vehicles already would protect you decently from handgun fire if more than 25 feet away. Minus the so-called "coolness" factor of it, I'd say it is a good way to waste money. Not only are you asking for it buying a BMW with 90k miles on it without a warranty, but you are buying something that will simply add more stress to the engine, frame, and make gas mileage all the more worse.

Your money, I can't say I've not spent money on cars.
