Friend has a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT. The problem is the car wont go into Drive or any of the drives. It goes into Reverse though. I doubt its a transmission problem. Its an automatic btw. If anyone knows, thanks!

Does it make a squealing noise?

does it drive at all? I had a 90 chevy tranny go out on my truck... except only reverse went out and drive acted weird..

the rings could have went out in it and only reverse works...?

thsoe Ford truck transmissions always seem to go out at about 100k miles.. I had a 92 ranger and had to replace the tranny at 100k

I'm guessing it could be low on fluid if you are very lucky or else it's just plain junk.

Sounds to me like the torque convertor went out and took the transmission with it. That's an 'old school' evaluation.

It needs towed to a shop for an eval.

I agree! My '77 tranny went out with only 77,000 [roled over twice...at least] on the C6! Can't Ford do anything right? Had it rebuilt....:D

Well, don't knock ford that bad, my chevy went out at 141,000 :(

Then again it was a work truck, so imagine they hauled tractors and crap with it (although isn't that what damn trucks are for?)

oh well, works now
