1993 Saab 9000 CSE

I came across a 1993 Saab for 400 dollars on Craigslist last week and since than have test drove the vehicle and checked it out. Runs great, but does have a few rust spots on the exterior. No foul smelling fluids, no jerky or slipping tranny. The muffler does need be replaced and that is all that I can find at fault with this vehicle. Interior just needs to be thoroughly cleaned.
The guy selling is a med student, and from what it sounded like, he did not care about the money. Which led him to drop the price to 300 dollars. All the repair and service records were kept and the car has a clean car title.

Anyway.. does this sound like a good deal for 300 dollars?

Damn 🙂 If it runs, take it. It's a decent car, and even if it lasts 6 months, it's worth it.

For $300 it would be a very good beater. They're generally very reliable cars if maintained properly, but IIRC '93 was the first year after the refresh so I'd probably try to find a slightly newer one.

For $300, it's definetly a good source of temporary transportation. For $300, I buy a 3 legged pony.

I hope it makes it through winter. I can't wait to test those heated seats. 😛

Heated seats, jesus christ. A heating blanket costs more than $300. This thread should have never been made.

In Utah it is a rust hell. They use salt on the roads, so I need to know what it would take to rust proof the car. Has anybody had experience with undercarriage coating spray, or any other methods for rust proofing the car?

You want to spend money to rustproof a $300 car?

Shoot buy it for $300 even if you dont like it or need it. Clean it up real good slap in a new muffler and resell right away for $800 FTW
