hey guys so i own a 1985 Pontiac Trans Am 10-15 year ago and used it for some time, about 5-6 years ago i parked it and havent used it sence due to recent car issues i went to use it yet again and found its not working...

through some research and work on the car we have come to the concusion that the fuel pump wasnt working (not priming) so i bought a new one and went to install it to find that power isnt getting from the battery to the pump. we changed the fuel pump relay and checked that its getting proper voltage and it is. so from the fuel pump relay to the pump is an issue at the moment, any one have any suggestions?

Car:
1985 Pontiac trans am - 305 fuel injected V8, 16.1 gal gas tank.

Are you aware that 5 or 6 year old gas will look like jello? I hope you drained the tank and cleaned out the fuel system. As for your fuel pump; is is your belief that it is not working because it will not start, or did you check the fuel line pressure?

yes we pulled and drained the fuel, and the pump is not priming when the key is turned to "ON" and have used a voltage meter getting 0 amps at the rear connectors. as an update we found a bad connector just inside the dash so we are in the process of fixing that and unknown if that fixed getting power to the back end or not.

used a voltage meter getting 0 amps

But how many volts did you get? :p

Seriously though, did you try jumping the relay terminals to see if the pump ran then? If so, then the problem is in the low-current switching side of the relay and not in the main power lines.
