1984 horror flick based in a remote alaskan research station... [UPDATE: got it - THE THING]

This has been bugging me all day. We weret alking about horror movies and I just remembered this one. Its sorta hokey in a funny special effects way but its still pretty scary.

I keep remembering this dog in it. Like a St. Bernard or somthing?

Im not certain it was made in 1984 though, but it was an 80's movie.

It was John Carpenter's The Thing. BUT......it wasn't Alaska.

Was on Antarctica if I do remember correctly. And you might want to find the short story that the movie's based on. A bit different, but a great read.

The speical effects for that movie was great for its day.
