At 1024x768 and below a 6600GT is as fast as a 6800plain. $60-80 here in the FS/FT forums.

I have an AGP P4 3.2 and I'm picking up an X1950PRO AGP for christmas. Fast enough for high eye candy at 12x10 or lower no AA at 19x12, video decode acceleration including H.264, HDCP, and dual dual link DVI. It is unfortunatley hard to find, except at best buy (visiontek) for $300. On-line is showing around $250 when in stock.


Edit: just saw it was for your cousin - if you want to spend less than 150, I'd suggest a 7600GS.

Here is another vote for a Geforce 7600 GS (AGP). Just picked one up this weekend and I really like it.
