I didn't't think 1978 was that long enough ago for this type of mentality.

With as many women I know with rape fantasies, I'd say the female numbers are higher now :hmm:

What % would you estimate have rape fantasies. I would of guessed extremely low like 1% or something.

you would both be wrong.

Thats the kind of fantasy you wont get many women admitting to. It could be a high percentage, or low.
Theres absolutely no way to be sure.

Women admit to it more than you would think, I wasn't kidding about that part. It's the whole "freedom from sexual responsibility" thing. Every one I've asked for details about why uses that reasoning. Of course, we all know in reality(including them), they wouldn't actually like it.

I'm not surprised about the guy's responses. In fact, I bet high school boys would answer much the same today. The real shocker is the number of girls who answered yes. I think that number would be very different now.

It is said to have been a 5 point scale on acceptability, not a yes / no poll. If true, then turning it binary violates the accuracy of the data.

rape fantasy =/= condoning or wanting actual rape.

I wonder if the wording of the question made some people think they didn't mean actual rape/sexual assault.

I find it odd that they didn't include "they are married" as an option. Maybe in 1978 they didn't even think it was possible to be raped by a spouse?

Hold on a second, are we talking gift-from-god rape, Legitimate rape or just plain rape rape? It makes a difference.

go read /r/GoneWildStories

the extent to which some women will go to GET raped is terrifying.

The BDSM community usually jumps all over those kinds of posts saying how dangerous it is both physically and legally, the need for a safeword, etc. But some of those women don't think setting it up beforehand in the BDSM approved safe way is "real" enough.

I think that was the point of the survey, describe rape without the word. I remember a discussion in health class about this in the mid 80's.
