1974....BMW 2002?

anyone have one of these? Pretty much I'm looking for something for my friend to borrow for a couple months, then I'll either attempt to tweak it out, possibly turn it into a ghetto rally car? The one I'm looking at is a 1974, the body is in decent shape, I'll be test driving it tommorow.. he says it runs strong, so far I only got to look at it and take some pics since he wasnt around. The thing is it's only $375, and I've seen more beat-up looking ones going on ebay for $1500+ (and even non -running ones for 700+)... so when I pop the hood open, drive it around, etc, is there anything i should look for specifically that could be a common problem with this car? any help would be greatly appreciated, I'll try to find somewhere to upload a pic to as well, thanks

The BMW 2002's are pretty neat little cars. They use one in the XM Satellite radio commercial, where the guy is driving through his office and pulls up to his desk. If you get one in nice shape they are fun little rides.

I could have sworn that was an old Saab. Maybe I just imagined it being a hatchback.
