to be short, i can't seem to find benchmarks comparing a CS x1950 setup vs. a 8800 gts (640) head to head

whats the best to go with at the moment? is the price difference (of buying two cards over one) worth the performance....if any?

thx

1950 will be faster but 1 card is better than 2 to avoid all the pitfalls of SLI/Crossfire.

I would go for an eVGA 8800GTS and see if the 8900 series launches within their 3 month upgrade schedule.

He is saying to go with one GTS 640 card instead of two 1950 cards in crossfire, because sometimes Crossfire can be a pain to get working right.

Yeah; do what everyone else is saying.
The X1950XTX CF will run better MOST of the time, but some games are totally unoptimized for CF, and the 8800GTS alone will provide plenty of OCing headroom because of the smaller size and cooler temperature.
