Any info on failure rates for these? Kinda iffy putting all my eggs in one basket if you know what I mean....

Good price, already coming down from their 8TB announcement...

Personally I'd just stick with 3TB-4TB Hitachi's or WD Black/Enterprise drives if you are concerned about reliability. 6TB is a shitload of data to have disaster recovery over.

6TB hard drives? I'm still trying to mentally accept 2TB ones. Times have changed I guess.

At these prices though (say for 3TB, there is really no reason you couldn't raid them, they are only going to continue to come down in price --- at least until the next tropical storm).

That's what I said about 4TB. :)

But the 4TB have been very reliable so far.

I agree that hard disks seem to have become increasing more reliable over the last few years. Flat out click-of-death style failures are rare in my experience.

I wonder if pressure from SSD's have finally pushed hard disk manufactures to stop using capacity as a crutch and they're actually putting more effort into reliability.
