1920x1200 resolution problem on BF2 (7800GT SLI, 2405FPW)

anyone running BF2 at 1920x1200? i have two eVGA 7800gt in SLI and a Dell 2405fpw montier. i've tried the shortcut parameter tweak +szy +szx and i've edited the video.con file (both tweaks are well mentioned on the web). however, when i start the game, it just dumps me back to desktop.

i can only get it to run at 1600. anyone get it to run at 1920?

btw, i'm running the latest nvidia drivers.

Which drivers do you consider the latest. You should not be having problems at that setting with an SLI machine, especially one of your caliber.

Is this monitor new? Have you used a crt before this? If so this could be something to do with the refresh rate been set too high for the monitor. Remove the line from your shortcut and open /my documents/battlefield 2/profiles/0001/video.con and change "VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1200@60Hz"

I have perf problems with the DVI out on my laptop (XPS Gen2) and my 2405. I need to try VGA and see if it's better.

i've tried changing the video.con file. BF2 just dumps me out to the desktop after the game logs in. if it was a matter of the moniter not handling the refresh rate, i think the moniter would go blank or something. the problem is more with the game configuration... it's not detecting that my card can do 1920x1200@60 for some reason. and when i force it to do that using the shortcut parameter method or the video.com method, the game just dumps me out.

it's annoying since i feel like i'm not using my hardware's full potential and BF2 was my secret reason for the recent hardware upgrade.

i'm gonna try to re-install the game from fresh again after i install the new nvidia drivers just released.

OP - I am having the same problem and tried the video.con solution w/ same result as you. Let us know what reinstalling the game does.

There are a lot of people this doesn't work for, irrespective of system settings and components. There must be something we all have in common, but nobody has found it yet that I have heard of.

You're better off in 1600 x 1200 anyway. BF2 does not support widescreen res, and so what happens in 1920 x 1200 is you lose a little of the top and bottom of the view.

I've been able to run BF2 in widescreen using the shortcut hack. The game looks amazing, but I keep getting beaten on the draw in online play. I thought it was because I'm old and slow, but it suddenly occurred to me that because I'm running at 1920x1200, I'm moving my crosshair over a heck of a lot more real estate than the guy shooting at me who may only be running 800x600. I now play BF2 online windowed at 1600x1200. The same for DOD. It's not quite as visually engaging, but I find that I don't die quite so much in one-on-one firefights.

(I still die plenty though, SLI is no match for teenage reflexes.)

I run bf2 1920x1200 on 2 bfg 7800gtx sli on a 2405fpw...works fine for me, all I did was edit the shortcut for the +szy +szx thing and works great. Framerate seems a little low for what I expect to get, around 80-90 but dipping down into the teens during artillery strikes with no fsaa/af.
