i just ordered an acer al2416w dvi. i want to run it on a 6600gt, but im not sure if it can even run that resolution which is 1920x1200 dvi. has anyone else tried this? i'm not a big time gamer, but i suppose if it comes down to it ill buy a 7600gt.

I used to use a 6600GT to drive dual monitors, one being my HP L2335. You should be fine but don't expect much for gaming at that resolution.

no problem. the 6600GT has at least one DVI link.

take a look at the DVI plug. If it looks like this ::: ::: - then you have single-link DVI that can support up to 1920*1200. If you have a DVI that looks like this :::::::: - then it is a dual-link DVI that supports up to 2560*1600. Either way, your fine.

but as mentioned above, being able to drive your desktop at 1920*1200 is VERY different from being able to game at that resolution. get used to scaling...

dvi means he can have black bars = no scaling if he wants to game on low res

6600GT FTW

well i've read that , some of the cheaper cards such as mine that dont have a silicon image dvi output chip and use the nvidia internal one, do not have enough video bandwidth to do 1920x1200 dvi. and that only the 6600gt cards with dual dvi ports (and thus a silicon image secondary dvi driven port) can drive a 1920x1200 display.

oh well li guess ill figure it out when i get it.
