The most recent 20 or 30 or so reviews have reported 0 dead pixels. Besides, it's a P-MVA panel. You want to find a hotter deal? Didn't think so :p

Hotter deal? That $300 24" Soyo that Office Max offers. :p *VA panel, too.

I'm still mad I didn't pick one of the Soyos up back when they were $299 and I had a $50 off coupon. GRRRRR!

I'm not. That panel has tons of QA issues; even the display panel they had hooked up last week that I saw had the dreaded horizontal lines of pixels going on.

For that panel, for me to feel safe (I read about people's going bad and developing the lines of pixels after 6 months) I'd have to get the 2 year warranty from Office max which is ~$40. +tax from buying at the store, and this is the better deal. Peace of mind that it's not going to break on me, and that there are literally ZERO issues of dead pixels if you look at the reviews. Zirconium is full of himself; there simply are not any dead pixels with this monitor it seems.

The Samsung 245B is a TN panel, and probably the best gaming 24" on the market right now, especially for the price. If you are always looking at your monitor straight on, not from an angle, then you will be fine with a TN. Response time is great on this model.

Well, the response time is still only 8ms on this panel- that's less than 1/100th of a second lag time between the time you shoot and the time you see the shot. The superior image quality would be worth it in my opinion.

Definitely, but it does have HDMI since it carries audio, although no adapter in the box for DVI. I'm just not sure why this thing would come with speakers, either.

It seems like this is meant for a bedroom or HTPC application (in a rec room, kids room, etc) since it has speakers, but it also has no tuners, which just confuses me more.

Still, for $350, it's a good panel and a hot deal, even if you have to go get a DVI->HDMI cable from Monoprice to use it.

To my best knowledge, more than the half of these QA issues were actually craptastic DVI cables that were bundled in the package; mine is spotless after a quick & cheap upgrade that didnt break my piggy bank. Yeah, there seems to be a higher than usual rate of other failures but at that price I think it really is worth taking a gamble, and get it returned/replaced when found defective. Only thing soyo is really lacking is a robust set of input options which may or may not be needed depending on the buyer.

Both soyo and westinghouse are good deals regardless :)

No way. The Soyo I saw on display that had the pixel issues was being driven by a split VGA cable.

However, I think I'm going to cancel my order and go buy this Soyo. You're right, it's worth the gamble.
