1920x1080 or 1920x1200 question on 24" monitor

Which is the standard these days for 24, 26, 28" monitors?

Neither are standard on monitors, but 1920x1080 is a television/movie standard (1080i/p) but at the same time, 1200 > 1080 in terms of number of pixels, which is generally not a bad thing, assuming you have the gpu to power it.
