so my awesome computers all now get 192.168.0.1 for their IP address. Works fine with other wireless/wired networks. So would reseting the router fix this?

uhh? Really? Or do you mean the gateway is 192.168.0.1 and your client computers are getting 192.168.0.2, 0.3, and so on? Thats in the web config of your router.. Either that or someone got onto your network and is running another dhcp server...

well i added another router to my setup. so there are to routers. If i assign static ip's to the computers they work, but the wireless still assigns ......0.1, when it should be some form of 192.168.1.XXX

you need to disable the dhcp stuff on one of your routers, probably the one assigning the .0.xxx addresses, which is probably the newest one.

I recommend you post details of how you've hooked up your two routers and your PCs. As you've already found, putting two home routers on a network requires an understanding of how they work. Potential problems include IP address conflicts (as you've encountered) and the inability to reach other PCs in your network.

Its my limited understanding that the 192.168.0.1 address is reserved for the master device----and then the mater service will happily work with other computers with an IP address of 192.168.0.xxx where X is some number between 2 and 255---as long as no two xxx setting are the same. IF auto config does not work---you have to set it up in static assigned addresses.

And if you ever get the exact same address on a active network---Katie bar the door---the last time it happened to me it only took three days to figure out how to unfreak my computers.

that's the ip address of the router. all your computers are getting ip's such as 192.168.0.2-255 i assume. this is normal.
