If you have LCD eyestrain, make sure you use the "Auto-Set" feature of your LCD to align your screen correctly, make sure it's running at native resolution and refresh rates, test it out with ClearType on AND off (some people prefer it off), and lower your brightness and contrast to comfortable levels.

Also make sure your room has adequate lighting; staring at any LCD in the dark will strain your eyes.

When I first got my 2001fp I had a lot of eyestrain. I figured out it was because the screen was WAY brighter than what I was used to in a CRT.

I lowered my brightness from 50% to 30% and just took it easy for a few days. After a couple of days I was 100% used to it. Now when I look at a crt I wonder if there is something wrong with them since they are so dim vs my 2001.

so nobody has these problems then?

1. here (193p and 1905FP supposedly use same panel)

2. and here

"After a bit more testing, It certainly is clear the contrast is above any LCD I've seen before. Although, I would also like to state (its only fair) that I am finding out that this monitor is giving some signs of eye fatigue. Actually, I'm experiencing a bit of the same eye and tiredness I'd get with CRT's or DLP's. Obviously, with any new viewing screen your eyes can get some adjustment although without a doubt I do have a small amount of extra fatigue due to this monitor and its high contrast ratio! "

I think I found part of the answer.

Check this article on Toms Hardware Here

No wonder these guys eyes are hurting.

I think I'll look for a 500:1 lcd and keep my eyeballs
