i would say more than half the time i try to play warcraft 3 i load the game get in and start a game. until i actually start playing everything seems fine. but when game actually loads the characters move like frame by frame and its really jumpy and very hard to play. but the whole time im getting the max 65 frames per second. if i restart my computer it works fine and if i don't play any other games it works fine. but if i play war3 and then play something like oblivion and then play war3 its all jumpy...anyone know what this is or how to fix it?

It sounds like you are getting network lag and there is nothing wrong with your video. You may consider possible problems with your router, your NIC, the game server you are connecting to, or even your ISP.

Another possibility is some other software running on your PC that is causing a high demand on your network while you are gaming.....think spyware, torrent clients, or any other software that uploads or downloads data while you are gaming. If you are sharing your internet connection through a router with other computers on a local network, especially if you are connected wirelessly, you could be competing for bandwidth with another computer.

Myself and other players have experienced this issue with 6600GTs, 6800GTs, and X800XTs.

Changing settings and resolutions does nothing.

Itll say in fraps im getting max fps, but it will hiccup and freeze literally every 2-3 seconds and then return to normal, and repeat, until the game ends.

It really really sucks.

It appears it may be network related, but its odd because things like teamspeak dont lag at all during the same period. (this is playing on Bnet)

If one person experiences these hiccups, all players do. Its a very strange issue.

Clearly this would have nothing to do with a particular vid card then.

This would clearly indicate a server side issue. Possibly a bug in the server software or the network the server is running on. Nothing you can do but complain until they fix it.

no its not network related i have never had this problem before i built my new machine. i even had the same problem before i changed boards (for different reason). my internet is working fine the entire time. i can minimize the game and go test the connections and its perfect. the hiccups or hesitation is only felt by me. its got to be graphic related. ]

it also can't be computer resources because the game requires almost nothing to run fine and i keep very low amount of processes running anyway

It could be the problem some people are/were getting with dual core CPU's and certain games (eg Warcraft 3). Try downloading the AMD dual core driver from www.amd.com and see if that helps.

i didn't see an actual driver. all they have are utilities for monitoring your cpu

edit**
nevermind, i can't read

lemme know if that fixes your issue, because if it does, we have different issues, because none of our cpus are dual core :p

Did you guys even read my reply? It's pretty much clearly not a client issue based on the described symptoms. Nothing wrong with your computers.

You do know that the "servers" on WC3 are players machines right?

And it even happens when im hosting the game.

That my friend is other peoples comps laging on line and not your comp. The game must stop all logic when waiting on other players. It also could be you have a bad intenet connection if you have 56k then that is your problem.

1. no "waiting for other players" prompt
2. sometimes is only 2 players with many computers as opponents, both players on broadband, and voice chat working fine in the backround during the lag, which never gets better until the end of the round.
3. ending the round and restarting the game, on the same map, with the same settings, fixes the problem until it randomly begins again.

You don?t always get a waiting for other player prompt via lag. If it is short bursts it will look like delays in orders and units standing still. Also Wc3 is more CPU limited then GPU by far. If you have more then 200 units on screen it will lag even if you have dual core and crossfire. Trust me on this I have done extensive testing on that game engine since I am one of few people who is moding it directly.
