I've had my 1900XT for a year and a half and it keeps overheating and crashing my PC. I bought an after market cooler that helps a little but not enough. I like the card, but prices seem to be cheap enough to warrant an upgrade. I'm totally lost on card nomenclature and am clueless about DX10 and PCIE 2.0. I have a GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3. I'm sure I could just replace it for cheap, but any thoughts about cards in the 200-250 dollar range?

Possible ventilation problem with your case maybe? Run it with the side-panel off and see what happens. Also DX10 pushes cards a lot more but makes gameplay a lot more vivid and vibrant (at least the water). PCI-E 2.0 is the evolution of the PCI-E x16 bus, doubling the theoretical bandwidth of data transfer however we have no cards to date that can actually use that much bandwidth to not be able to perform on PCI-E 1.1. As for card upgrades, consider the 8800 GT, the 8800 GTS, the Radeon 3870, and the 9600 GT.

My case has 3 120mm fans, and I use a cable management system. I've also taken the card apart and cleaned all the dust, and I often take the side of the case off and it still does it. I'm convinced it's the card....

I guess the card is dying already then. In any case theres a lot of very worthwhile upgrades, just look at the ones I mentioned for instance on Newegg.

Well, after reading lots of post and reviews I think the 9600 GT for $180 is hard to beat, thanks for the help.
